Jon was named the Friars Most Valuable Rookie after his freshman season and was the San Jose Sharks' fourth round pick in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

During his tenure at Providence, DiSalvatore was twice the recipient of the Lou Lamiorello Award as the Team MVP and also was awarded HE's Len Ceglarski Sportsmanship Award, similar to the NHL's Lady Byng Trophy.  In 02-03 he also won the Friar Award, awarded by the coaches to a player who excels in the subtleties of hockey. A Hockey East Honorable Mention, DiSalvatore was one of the finalists for the Walter Brown Award, awarded to the top New England born player in NCAA DI college hockey.

Unsigned by San Jose, DiSalvatore was picked up by the St. Louis Blues and currently plays for their AHL club, the Worcester Ice Cats.
