When popular veteran forward Nancy Drolet was cut from Team Canada just weeks before the start of the Olympics, it sent shockwaves through the hockey community. Her replacement, Cherie Piper, suddenly found herself under a microscope and was constantly scrutinized by critics. During the Olympic tournament, Cherie stepped up to the challenge and scored 3 goals and 2 assists. One goal was scored while wearing this jersey in a game against Kazakhstan on February 11. Cherie crashed the zone behind Dana Antal who wristed a shot on net. Kazakh goaltender Natalya Trunova blocked the shot, but Cherie was there to snap the rebound into the net at 8:45 of the first period, the second goal of the game for Team Canada. Cherie assisted on the very next goal (scored by Vicky Sunohara) and the Canadians went on to rout Kazakhstan 7-0. This
jersey shows very light wear with numerous small stick marks on the
sleeves, front and crest. There is a Nike bar code inside the hem and IIHF patch on the tail.
